Is therapy right for me? Where do I start?

Therapy is for everyone! You may be considering therapy for yourself, or for someone else, but have some concerns about what kind of therapy is best and how to go about choosing the right therapist.  Your first meeting with us will be a Consultation Session lasting 50 minutes.  This is an opportunity to explore together what you want to get out of therapy and whether working with us would be a good fit to help you achieve these goals.  We will guide you through different approaches to therapy and help you answer any questions you may have about finding the right therapy or therapist for you.

During the meeting, we like to obtain a basic outline of the reasons that caused you seek our services, as well as identify what a good outcome from therapy might look like for you.  It is also an opportunity for you to explore our style of therapy and ask any questions you may have about the way we work.  By the end of the meeting, we will let you know whether or not we think the particular skills and style of therapy we offer make us well-suited to supporting your needs.

If we do not think we can be of help, we will make recommendations for alternatives that we believe may be more helpful for you.  If we do believe we can help you, we are aware that you might like to go away and think for a while before making a final decision about whether or not to work with us.  On the other hand, you may have already decided by the end of the session that our services are a good fit for you.  If this is the case, you are welcome to go ahead and book further sessions at the end of the meeting.
